Manali is one of the most famous tourist attractions in Himachal Pradesh. A part of the Kullu district situated around 250 km away from the state capital, Shimla.

How to Reach Manali

Manali tourism By Road:

Kullu is well connected to the main Indian cities. Travelers can get on deluxe buses of HPTC from New Delhi, Chandigarh, Pathankot, and Shimla.

 Manali tourism By Air:

 You can reach this beautiful hill station in Himachal by air. The closest airport is Bhuntar, around 50 km from Manali.

Manali tourism By Train:

Being a hilly area, there is no railway station in Manali. You can come chandigarh by train and rent a car or taxi  formanali.

  1. Hadimba Temple, Manali

Also, call by the name of Hidimba Devi Temple and Dhungari Temple, this ancient temple was built by Maharaja Bahadur Singh way back in 1553. As the name suggests, the temple is dedicated to Hidimba Devi, wife of Bheema. The wooden architecture of the temple is very unique from most Hindu temples you will come across in the country. There’s another temple dedicated to Hidimba Devi’s son Ghatotkacha on the premises. Surrounded by thick cedar groves and with snow-capped mountains serving as the backdrop, the temple is one of the best places to visit in Manali.

  • The ManaliGompa, Manali

The ornate design and the quintessential Tibetan architecture make the GadhanThekchhoklingGompa, more commonly referred to as the ManaliGompa, one of the finest landmarks in Manali. Built by Tibetan refugees in the 1960s, this monastery allows you to enjoy quiet settings and unmatched spiritual vibes.  Some of the key highlights of the ManaliGompa include exquisite murals that depict important events of Buddhism in vivid colors and roofs built in the Pagoda style. The stalls in the complex are a good place to pick up some souvenirs and Tibetan handicraft items.

  • Manu Temple, Manali

The Manu Temple is dedicated to an old Guru after whom it has been named. The pagoda-style architecture of the temple stands out among the deep valleys and mountain peaks that form a postcard-worthy backdrop. You will have to trek a little to reach the temple, but the views at the top and the spiritual vibes it discharge make all your efforts completely worth it.

ArjunGufa

Rahala Waterfalls

Situated at a height of 2500 meters, it is one of the best waterfalls in Himachal Pradesh. What makes it a top tourist place are the dense silver birch and deodar forests, and mesmerizing views around. You can visit here anytime between March to October, and spend your whole day praising the cascading falls.

Bhrigu Lake

One of the best trekking destinations around Manali. A bit of adaptation is required if you are going for the trek as the lake is situated over 4000 meters above sea level. The scenery and sweeping views of the PirPanjal Range are what draws most visitors to this place.

Nehru Kund, Manali

Nehru Kund is a good place to visit during summers. The spring is known as because Nehru, India’s first prime minister, used to visit it during his stay in Manali and drink fresh water from this natural spring. The clear waters and the calm Himalayan landscapes make this a good stop for those moving over to the Rohtang Pass. It goes without saying that Nehru Kund makes for the best destination for photographers and nature lovers.

Van Vihar

Van Vihar is a public park complete with charm and sky-touching deodar trees. You can even hop onto a boat and move around the man-made lake here. Bird watchers will enjoy spotting local bird species in the park, especially in the morning hours.

Kothi, Manali

Kothi is a charming district in the mountains that is renowned for its scenic setting and the beautiful views it gives of the snow-capped peaks and glaciers. It is at the foothills of Rohtang Pass and the land is model by the Beas which flows through this part of the region. The village is also the best place for camping, especially if you are planning to explore Rohtang Pass on foot. The village also has a temple dedicated to Goddess ShuwangChandika.

Beas River

The Beas River is a natural landmark in the area that will accompany you on most parts of your Manali trip. Vashisht village is referred to be one of the best places to enjoy beautiful views of the river valley while a trip to Kothi will bring you up close to its clear blue waters. The Beas is a hub of water sports like kayaking and rafting and the village of Pridi is considered to have some of the most thrilling rapids.

Jagatsukh

Jagatsukh is a lovely settlement pushed in the mountains and popular for its temples. Jagatsukh is one of the major villages in the Kullu area and the best place to enjoy some of the vernacular architecture. Those who like to trek into the DeoTibba Mountains can use Jagatsukh as a base.
